Hi,
I’m building a house and want to supplement the radiant floor heating I’m already installing with some mechanism to cool the air in the summers. Although the summers in Seattle are not extreme they can be uncomfortable at times. Anyways, I’m considering a mini split heat pump or mini split A/C system and trying to determine whether either are appropriate. A couple of installers seem to be recommending the Mitsubishi split systems. Thoughts?

I have an outbuilding that I have converted to an office. I am presently heating it with a space heater, which is using far too much energy. I plan to install a mini split heat pump for heating and cooling, but am struggling to figure out the correct size unit, and the best brand.
My floor area is 140 square feet, but the ceiling is vaulted atop 10′ walls and is completely open, so I have more area to heat and cool that a traditional 140 square foot room. There are also a LOT of windows, covering nearly 50% of the walls, which are not as efficient at insulating as the walls. The walls are well insulated and plaster inside and out.
So, can you help point me in the right direction in terms of size of unit (BTU) and brand? I live in Olympia, WA where average temperatures are 31 in January, and not too hot in the summer.
