Cleaning your electronic air filter is easy and should be done ever few months depending upon how dusty and dirty your air is in your house. Alternately, you can just keep an eye on the metal plates inside of the air filter to see if they need to be cleaned. If you let the dust particles pile up without cleaning the plates, then the filter will not work.
You have a few options to clean the electronic air filter. The first one is by using the dishwasher. If the metal filter cells can fit in your dishwasher then this is an easy choice. Just put the dishwasher on the regular cycle and use mild detergent. Make sure that the wires on the cells are facing upwards for the best clean.
Your next choice is to take the metal air filter cells outside and hose them off with the garden hose. You can also use a mild cleaner to make it easier. Just spray the cells until they are clean and wipe them dry. Lastly, you can just wipe them down by hand with some paper towels and some cleaner. This is the most tedious way to clean the cells but works just as well as the other options.
