I remember growing up in a region where we opened the windows for fresh air quite often.
The spring and fall were all windows open all the time.
Even during the winter, there would be days that were warm enough for a bit of fresh air from an open window. But that just doesn’t apply to where I live now. There are still plenty of days in the winter where I could open the windows for some fresh air. But from about March to November, the air conditioning is on to some degree. That means the house is sealed up for at least 8 months a year. So much for all that fresh air. Still, I have really wanted to have a house that doesn’t hold pet and cooking odors only to have the HVAC recycle them. I tried to use deodorizers to little or no effect. The best I could hope for was a temporary masking of the odors. It was really getting to the point where I was hating the indoor air in my house. The day I chose to stay at work longer instead of coming home to our HVAC maintained house was the day I knew I had to get proactive. All it took was one call to the HVAC company. They had several air purification options. From portable air purifiers to a whole home air purification system. We chose to go with the latter. I was so surprised to see how relatively small the whole home air purification system really was. However, once it was installed inside the HVAC equipment, the results were overwhelmingly great. We now have the best indoor air possible.
