Beyond that, it’s crucial to start working in the Heating, Ventilation and A/C industry, and getting your hands dirty, long before you are officially certified
Back in the day there were no online video sites, there were no online tutorials, and there weren’t these things known as “schools” either. If you actually wished to learn something, you had to easily locate somebody to teach you, or just figure it out completely on your own. Before you decide to ask, NO you couldn’t study a book about it, because first you would have to find somebody willing to teach you to read… For trades and other skills, established tradesmen would take in interns to teach them the task from the ground up. Things have changed quite a bit, but in my business, heating and cooling repair, we feel it’s best to stick to the seasoned ways as best we are able to manage! Heating, Ventilation and A/C is something that you can’t learn from just reading a book. It actually requires hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours of hands on experience. Internships are still widespread in the Heating, Ventilation and A/C industry, as we help people to learn the whole business from the ground up. Of course there is still some book reading that must be done, and most community universities offer evening classes to help you prep for the Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance certification exam. Beyond that, it’s crucial to start working in the Heating, Ventilation and A/C industry, and getting your hands dirty, long before you are officially certified. Thirty years ago an established supplier took me under his wing and taught me a great deal about heating and cooling appliance work. After all this time, I am still learning, because as technology advances Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliances evolve in new and phenomenal ways. Even if it’s not Heating, Ventilation and A/C systems, I recommend you consider learning a trade.
