Ductless split air conditioners can be an excellent alternative to a portable or window unit. They are also less expensive to install than a central system, since there is no need to install ducting. They take up little interior space, since the only inside portion is the air handler and are quieter to operate than a window unit, since the compressor is outside.
Split air conditioners can provide additional cooling for a room or area of the home, allowing the central unit to be operated less. They are commonly used in cabins, factories, and apartments as well as multi-story homes or those with uncomfortable zones. Some units include a heat pump, so both heating and cooling can be provided and adjusted for the individual room.

Split air conditioners are simple to install. Most units require only a three inch hole in the exterior wall. The air handler is typically attached on the interior wall and connected directly to the duct leading to the compressor. However, the larger Klimaire units require 220v or 230v, so you may need to have an electrician install the correct wiring. Users also report that the instructions were not well written and that it was necessary to have an HVAC technician come out with a pump to vacuum out the lines for installation.
Maintenance is simple on these units. About all that is required is to keep the filters clean and the compressor clear of grass clippings or lint from trees such as cottonwoods. Those who have used these models in very dusty environments report that efficiency will drop if the filters are not kept clean.
All of the following Klimaire models combine heating and cooling capabilities and come with a remote. The Klimaire 12000 btuh 13 SEER is a 115v model and comes with a free installation kit. The company produces two models that are rated 18,000 Btu. Both models come with a free installation kit The Klimaire 1.5 ton 18,000 btu/h model is wall mounted and rated at 13 SEER, and requires 230v.
The Klimaire 18,000 btuh 16 SEER inverter operates on 220v and offers greater heating capacity due to the inverter. The company also makes two 24,000 Btu models, both rated at 13 SEER and both with a free installation kit. The Klimaire 24000 btuh 13 SEER mini utilizes 220v. The Klimaire 2 ton 24,000 btu/h utilizes 230v.
Reviews from those who have actually purchased Klimaire ductless split air conditioners are positive for the most part. The negative comments are primarily concerned with the poor quality of the instructions. For example, one user reported that the electrical connections are located inside the unit and that this is not explained in the instructions. Another reported that the copper tubing did not bend as it was supposed to and recommends the purchase of a tube bender for installation.
There are few negative reviews of the performance of the units. One purchaser placed his unit in his 24′ x 24′ shop and reported that the building remained cool even when the temperature rose to 95 degrees. He stated that he liked the unit so well he is installing another in his house.
Another purchaser installed his in a 2,000 square foot house and reported that it is very efficient for both heating and cooling. Like most heat pumps, however, those who are expecting these units to handle extreme cold will be disappointed. Most of the units are not rated below freezing, so supplemental heat may be required if your winter temperatures tend to be colder.
Klimaire customer service has received mixed reviews. Some purchasers state that they were easy to reach and prompt to act. Others have reported that customer service was slow to respond to their requests.

Interesting review of this split air conditioner. Good job getting information about the company as well. Thanks for posting.
i got a airecondition klinaire when a put de aire in heater it giving me a code h7
This is the second split the first one was a different brand the one i have now is a klimaire 18k worked great till end of last winter. the outsiden unit wouldnt defrost unless i turned breakers off then back on it would freeze up again 1/2 inch thick ice so i didnt mess with it now its hot out and the defrost lite blinks and nothing else happens. So i guess dont expect more than 3 years on these things hate to do it but might be cheaper to get another one instead of repair?
