The Pridiom AMS121HX is a ductless air conditioning system that offers 12,000 BTU of cooling and heating power. This air conditioner also features Pridium’s Advance Inverter technology that helps by getting the room more comfortable faster. This is one of the few ductless units that features a sleep mode, auto restart, and a remote control. The AMS121HX also may help qualify those for a 500 dollar tax credit once it is installed. The biggest factor to mot will be the installation of this product.

While the AMS121HX is one of the easiest ductless air conditioning systems to use once it’s installed, this product does require professional installation. This is something to think about when purchasing the unit for yourself. The reason why it has to be professionally installed has to do with running the refrigerant lines and filling the compressor with refrigerant. This should only cost you about 100 dollars at most from many HVAC installers it’s still an added cost that many don’t see coming when the buy these units.

The maintenance of this product is the same as most standard air conditioners. The only problem could be is that if anything goes wrong with this product you may need to hire a professional to fix it which can cost quite a bit. Also when it comes to breaking parts, since the models change regularly you might not be able to get parts for your air conditioner if it happens to break down.

If you have it installed by a professional then this product works exactly the way it is supposed to. It cools when it is hot and it heats when it is cold. This can save your energy bills by offering temperature control of just one room of your house. This can be a problem though for those who plan on using it as an alternative to in window units may not find the cooling they need in their house. It just depends on what you plan on using the AMS121HX for in your house.

This is a perfect unit for those who are looking for a way to cool a room or addition without adding messing ductwork. The only drawbacks are the price, professional installation, and limited range of use for those looking for an alternative to in window units. It just depends on what you plan on using this system for.

The LS122HE is one of the most élite wall-mounted heating and cooling systems. This system is ductless which is to be highly considered for those homes that currently are using window air conditioning units. It also features a remote control which makes adjusting the heat effortless. The unit supplies 11,500 BTU of heating and air conditioning capabilities which is about perfect for a space of about 400 sq ft depending on other factors.

It’s great for those with breathing problems as this system also features a plasma air purifying system. This is one of the few wall mounted units where this is a standard feature. The LS122HE is also cost-effective for those living on fixed incomes. This wall mounted unit has the best energy star rating in the industry.

This product is very easy to use once it’s installed. The installation does require a professional as there are a few lines that need to be ran for this product. Anyone who choose to pay for this system should call a few installation companies in their city to see how much installation is going to cost. This might be a point where air units win out for those living in rental properties.

The maintenance, such as simple cleaning, is no different from that of other air conditioning units. Once a person decides to invest in this system there is a lot more to it than that of in window units. If something fails you will need to contact a HVAC professional. Parts for this system may become more scarce as these units are later phased out. This will mean that if a simple part fails you may have to pay for a completely new system and installation all over again.

When everything is installed professionally this product does perform well above its expectations. It doesn’t cost that much to run on a daily basis. The LS122HE is also one of them quietest lines of wall mounted units. All in all it does exactly what it’s supposed to do when it’s supposed to do it with no fuss.

The pro’s of this system are mainly its energy-saving features. If you are trying to cut back on gas heating bills then this might be an option for you. The con’s are almost overwhelming as it requires professional installation, can only be used in owned properties, availability of future parts , and the fact that these units can sometimes run as much in installation and equipment cost as just adding to your duct work.

LG’s LS122CE air conditioner is a mini-split, single zone, wall-mounted unit designed to cool up to 650 square feet of residential or commercial living space.

Priced at approximately $1,000 US, it is a reasonably-priced option for those looking to enter the higher-end air conditioning market. This unit outperforms larger window air conditioners due to being split between two units: an indoor unit that forces air into the living space and an outdoor unit that controls the condenser.

The mini-split A/C is a great option for those that desire near-silent operation without the installation of ductwork. The wall-mounted indoor unit only requires installation of a supply line to the outside, which routes to the outdoor unit. The weight of the indoor unit is 20.5 lbs and the outdoor until is 72.8 lbs.

The LS122CE provides 11,500 BTUs with a SEER value of 13, which makes it an efficient performer. It is also ecologically friendly, using R-410A refrigerant. Power consumption is 36V DC for the internal unit and 115V AC for the outdoor unit. Sound levels are 41/36/34 dB internally and 48 dB for the outdoor unit.

LG provides a remote control and the indoor unit comes with an installation plate and mounting hardware. LG offers user, installation, and service manuals that fully cover installation, operation, and maintenance. The documentation is fairly well written, with supportive illustrations that accompany text and instructions.

LG didn’t scrimp on features; this unit is packed with them. A plasma air purifying system captures microscopic contaminants, such as dust, mites, pet dander, and pollen. The indoor unit offers a dehumidification mode that controls humidity by shutting down the compressor to guard against overcooling.

Airflow is well managed with electronically controlled louvers that provide random air distribution. Airflow is also distributed in three directions, which provides a more natural flow of air throughout the living space. Auto modes control operation times, fan speed, and system shutoff and restart. The system also offers LG’s exclusive Gold Fin coating to guard against metallic corrosion.

While it’s not the cheapest wall-mount A/C unit, the LG LS122CE does provide decent cooling performance with the advantages of a ductless installation. Keep in mind, the LS122CE can only cool a living space. Prospective customers should be aware that LG also manufactures the LS122HE, which provides heating and cooling capabilities. For those that require zoned heating during cold months, this might be a welcome alternative.

A ductless split system air conditioner is a good option to a window or through the wall unit. They don’t make large holes that need to be insulated around and are much more attractive. The indoor unit is small and better looking in comparison to a package unit. It is much quieter because the compressor, the noisiest part of an air conditioner, is outside. There is more freedom in where to install the inside half of the unit. It works well in add-ons or when finishing an attic or basement.

The Sanyo 09KS71 measurements are W11 3/16″ x D32 7/16″xH7 7/16″. The outdoor unit is H21 9/16″xD10 7/16″xW28 5/16″. Both of these units are tiny and are easy to conceal, if needed or desired. The indoor unit uses a wireless thermostat for control. This eliminates the need for small voltage wiring and an unsightly thermostat on the wall.

The SEER rating of the Sanyo 09KS71 is 16.0. It is an Energy Star device. Maximum voltage for the unit is 120 volts. Maximum amperage is 7.6. Maximum wattage is 755. The BTU output of this unit is 9000 BTU/H. The Sanyo 09KS71 carries a 5 year warranty on all parts, and a 7 year warranty on the compressor.

The Sanyo 09KS71 features a unique variable speed compressor coupled with a variable speed indoor fan unit synchronized with the thermometer. Instead of cycling on and off, the unit speeds up and slows down as necessary to maintain the desired temperature. This product is easy to use and very effective in cooling one zone, if properly sized. An experienced and licensed installer will let the buyer know what size unit is necessary for the application.

Maintenance of the Sanyo 09KS71 is simple. The apatite or calcium phosphate filter is highly effective in trapping dust, dust mites, pollen, dirt, and even cigarette smoke. The unit has a self diagnosis feature that lets the user know when to clean the filter. The life of the filter is dependant on usage.

The most glaring problem with the Sanyo 09KS71 is the non-standard refrigerant port. When calling a service technician, it is best to call the company that installed the unit to be insured they have the correct hose coupling to charge the unit with refrigerant if necessary. It would also be wise to let the service company know they will be servicing a Sanyo 09KS71 unit.

These days, mini split air conditioners are creating a lot of buzz. According to the US Department of Energy, these air conditioners have the capacity to reduce energy loss by almost 30%.

In addition to being cost effective, these ductless air conditioners also provide more flexibility and safety. If you are intending to buy a split air conditioner, then Fujitsu mini split air conditioner is the best for you.

There are several features that make Fujitsu split air conditioner ideal for your home. Let’s consider them one by one.

The design

Fujitsu mini split air conditioner consists of two units; the indoor unit called the air handler or evaporator and the outdoor unit called the condenser or compressor. Both the units are connected to each other by a conduit that consists of a power cable, copper tubing and a drain for the condenser. A 3-inch hole is required to tie both the units together.

All in all, unlike the conventional air-duct air conditioners, these air conditioners are aesthetically pleasing. They are neither bulky nor do they require any special structural alterations. As the inner unit can either be mounted on the ceiling or hung on the wall, these air conditioners provide a lot of flexibility. Moreover, they are easy to install and they can be fully controlled via a remote.

The only disadvantage with respect to design is that mini split air conditioners from Fujitsu are only available in one standard color, beige. Presently, alternate colors are not available. Furthermore, evaporators also cannot be painted.

The benefits

The chief benefits of a Fujitsu mini split air conditioner are as follows:

Less noisy- In the case of ductless split air conditioners, the noise-making components like compressor and motors are installed outside. Due to this, the air conditioner operates quietly.

Require minimum structural alterations - The inner and outer components of the air conditioner can be connected through a 3-inch hole. This is the only structural alteration that is required.

Energy efficient – The greatest benefit of Fujitsu mini split air conditioner is that it is very energy efficient and thus, also cost effective. As this type of split air conditioner doesn’t have any duct, therefore the energy loss is reduced by almost 30%. Energy saving directly translates into cost saving.

Individual zoning – Unlike the central air systems that cool or heat all the areas equally, ductless split air conditioners make individual zoning possible due to which only the occupied areas are heated or cooled and not the remaining areas. As many as four air handlers can be installed in different regions of the house, and they all require only one condenser. The individual zoning feature also reduces electricity bill to a great extent.

Eco-friendly – These air conditioners do not cause the depletion of the ozone layer and hence, they are very environment-friendly.

Enhance safety and security – Last, but not the least; Fujitsu split air conditioner doesn’t require any kind of windows or large holes. In this manner, such an air conditioner keeps away the intruders and gives your home a pleasant view.

Installation

As far as the installation of Fujitsu mini split air conditioner is concerned, it is certainly easy, but you cannot do it on your own. A qualified installer would be required to drill the hole, fix the conduit and the condensate drain, and finally, charge the air conditioner with the right amount of coolant. He will also help you to demarcate the zones for better results.

Price

Fujitsu split air conditioner is certainly costly, but it is very sturdy and doesn’t require too much of maintenance. Additionally, it also effectively reduces your electricity bill. One more thing that makes the high-price acceptable is the warranty; the company provides 2-years warranty on the parts and 6-years warranty on the compressor.

The discussion in above paragraphs candidly states that ductless mini spilt air conditioner is the best air conditioner that money can buy. If you take into account the various benefits that these split air conditioners offer, then the installations hassles and exorbitant price can be safely overlooked. In the long run, your mini split air conditioner will give you true value for your money.

When using an air conditioner, it is very important to clean it from time to time. Cleaning an air conditioner gets rid of the accumulated dirt and dust and improves the performance of the unit.

From the aesthetic sense, cleaning also makes the air conditioning unit look spick and span. For cleaning an air conditioner, the essential tools that are required are a tin can, a vacuum cleaner, a long handled brush, an oil can, rags, detergent or other cleaning chemicals and screwdrivers and spanners.

For the window air conditioner unit, the first step is to remove the filter. After removing it, water should be sprinkled on it and using a rag, detergent should be applied on the filter. After the filter becomes soapy, it should be completely submerged in a tray of hot water and kept aside for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, it should be rinsed with hot and cold water and hung up to dry.

After this, the front grille has to be removed from the main body. Modern air conditioning units have latches and by simply removing the latches, the front grille can be taken out. After the front grill is removed, the metal cover has to be taken out by unscrewing the screws. The screws can be kept in the tin can. Then the oil plugs of the fan should be taken out to display the oil holes using a pin or screwdrivers. 3 to 4 drops of oil should be applied to the oil holes. Then dirt and dust should be removed from the front fin using the brush.

Once the dirt is gone, the surface should be sprayed with greasers or spray cleaners. After 15 minutes, hot water should be poured slowly to remove all the dirt. Care should be taken so that water doesn’t come in contact with the electrical cables and wires and the refrigerator coils. Any bent fins should now be straightened.

This is a delicate process and pressure should not be applied. For the condenser, the same process of cleaning and watering needs to be done. Since the condenser coils contain high pressure gases, the condenser fins should be handled with extreme care.

Then a rag should be used to wipe the fan blades. The final step is to vacuum the entire unit including the underside of the metal cover. Any excess water should be drained out and the air conditioner should be reassembled when it is completely dry.

For split and ductless air conditioners, cleaning is very easy. The first step is to take off the front cover. It should be cleaned and dried. Then the filters need to be taken out and cleaned in the same manner as described earlier. After this is done, a large plastic bag is needed for progressing further.

The plastic should be fixed to the back side of the unit so that it is attached with the unit. With one hand holding the front side of the bag, so that it catches any dirt and dust coming out of the unit, greasers or spray cleaners should be applied to the coils and the rotor. This has to be done very carefully so that the entire surface of the coils and the rotor are covered with the cleaning agent.

The mouth of the spray should be as close to the coils and the rotor as possible. After this is done and the unit is left for about 10 minutes, the sprayer should be filled with hot water and another round of spraying should be done to wash out dirt and dust.

All this while, the bag should be held carefully so that all the disposable from the unit, like the chemicals and the water fall into it. Water should be sprayed as long as dirty water flows out. Then the unit has to be vacuumed and allowed to dry before reinstalling and using. The condenser should also be cleaned from time to time. It must be dismantled, cleaned with chemicals and vacuumed. Care should be taken for the condenser coils because they contain high pressure gases. After this process, the unit will start cooling better.

How to Clean the Air Conditioner Filter ?

This is a relatively easy thing that can be done by any homeowner and will keep the window air conditioner unit running smoothly and more efficiently.

There are a few options that will get the unit clean. The first thing to do would be to check the filter on the inside of the unit. This is usually a thin mesh filter that easily pulls out from the air conditioner. This will get periodically blocked up with dust and debris, so it should be cleaned frequently. By washing it out under warm water and a mild detergent, it should come completely clean. The filter should be totally dry before getting installed back in the air conditioner.

On the outside of the air conditioner, regular cleaning should be done as well. There are aerosol products that spray a foam cleaning agent over the coils and outside filter and release any dirt and residue. This then either gets washed off or will dissipate on it’s own once finished cleaning. With any such product, it is best to follow the instructions on the container to ensure proper application.

With some routine maintenance, the home air conditioner should work efficiently and effectively for years to come.

There are the window air conditioners and the split air conditioners. Functionally speaking, there is no major difference between a window air conditioner and a split air conditioner. Both are used to cool rooms. However, there are some differences technically.

A window air conditioner is a single unit. All the parts of the air conditioner reside within that one unit, including the compressor. In a split air conditioner, as the name suggests, the parts of the air conditioner are split.

The condenser is usually fitted outside the house or the room in which the indoor unit is installed. The condenser also contains the compressor. Refrigerator coils and PVC lines run from the condenser to the indoor unit.

A window air conditioner is fitted on a window or a space made by cutting the wall. Once the window air conditioner has been installed, the surrounding areas are sealed off properly so that there is no leakage of cold air. The indoor unit of a split air conditioner is fitted on the wall, at a height specified by the manufacturers.

There is no need to cut any window or any part of the wall, although some holes are made for the refrigerator coils and the PVC line. Apart from these differences, the way these air conditioners work is similar. Both have refrigerator coils that absorb heated and humid air from the room and replace it with cooled and dehumidified air.

Among all electrical appliances, air conditioners consume the maximum amount of power. With the general increase in global temperature, more and more consumers are now buying air conditioners. Air conditioners have now moved from luxury items to essential items. However, most users get a chock when they receive their first electricity bill after using the air conditioner.

An air conditioner is rated by the number of British Thermal Unites (BTU). BTU is used to gauge the energy efficiency ratio of an air conditioner. The energy efficiency ratio lists the number of BTU the air conditioner removes for each unit of power it draws to function. For split air conditioners, the energy efficiency ratio is called seasonal energy efficiency ratio.

It is common knowledge that more the energy efficiency ration more is the amount of power saved. Windows air conditioners consume less power than split air conditioners with the same BTU. However, it all depends on the positioning of the unit. A windows air conditioner that is not positioned to work at its best may end up consuming more power than a properly positioned split air conditioner with the same BTU.

It is a common misperception that a bigger air conditioner cools more.

Effective cooling

Contrary to this myth, effective cooling depends upon the positioning of the unit. However, the fact is that windows air conditioners work better in smaller rooms and split air conditioners are better for larger rooms. If someone buys a big house, the best option is to go for a ductless central air conditioning system.

People, who don’t want to invest so much, usually go for a normal split air conditioner or a windows air conditioner. If the rooms in the house are very large, then for effective cooling, a split air conditioner is a better option. But they are more expensive then windows air conditioners.

So, people may want to go for a mix and match solution and install split air conditioners in the drawing rooms and windows air conditioners in the bedrooms. However, another aspect of split air conditioners is that they are very quiet and may be installed in bedrooms if someone has trouble sleeping with noise around.

Ductless air conditioners have two units one placed indoors and the other placed outside.

The two units are connected through simple copper tubing and electrical wiring. The condenser coil and the compressor in the outdoor unit pump the refrigerant through the tubing to the indoor unit.

This refrigerant cools the evaporator coil and a fan in the indoor unit distributes the air cooled by passing over the evaporator coil in the room.

The primary components of a ductless air conditioner are :

The Outdoor Unit: Comprises of the condensing unit and the compressor and is places outside

The Conduit: It houses the copper tubes, electrical wires and refrigerant lines that connect the out and indoor unit.

The Indoor unit: This unit houses the air handler and a fan. It is usually available in a range of shapes and sizes and can be wall or ceiling mounted.

A Remote Control: A wireless remote control is used to operate the system.

Installation

The unit will have to be installed by a certified HVAC professional. You will need a fairly small opening just 2-3 inches to accommodate the conduit. The professional will run the copper tubes for the refrigerant, the drainage lines and the electrical wiring. He will also power the unit with the right amount of refrigerant which in this case is usually environment friendly freon.

However, the entire installation procedure can cost anywhere between $2000-$5000 for an 800-1000 square foot home. The installation of a complete ductless split air system in a 2000 square foot home can set you back by as much as $5000 to $7000

Even though the installation cost is fairly steep, the units are still very popular because the installation is cheaper and hassle free as compared to the central air conditioning units. They also require less space.

Zonal Control

Another benefit associated with the dustless split air conditioning systems is zonal control. This means that if you buy a two zone unit which will have two air handlers (indoor units) each one of them will have its own thermostat and can be controlled independently from the other.

This amounts to substantial energy and operating cost savings. Most central air conditioning systems don’t have this feature because they have a single out door unit that supplies the refrigerant to a single indoor unit where the air is cooled and sent to the various outlets through ducts. Also central air conditioner system ducts take a lot more space. The ductless split systems are substantially cheaper than central air conditioning units.

However they are more expensive than the window or wall mounted air conditioners. But their features give them an edge over here as well. Most window units are very noisy and since they have to be mounted on the wall you need to either create a special opening for them or buy a unit that fits into an existing opening.

The units are bulky and the large opening may often pose a security hazard. A ductless air conditioning system is almost silent since the compressor and condenser and placed outside. Also the opening needed is very small so they are considerably safer. You have various mounting options for the indoor units which can be mounted on the wall or ceiling or can even be suspended from the ceiling. They are designed to blend with the decor of most houses and are significantly smaller than the window units.

Also in terms of electricity consumption, most ductless air conditioners are far more energy efficient than the window mounted or central air conditioners

So, it can be safely suggested that even though ductless air conditioning systems have their own pros and cons they are better than any of the other air conditioning solutions in the market.

Well Sanyo’s split and ductless air-conditioners solve this requirement perfectly by providing you with a cool and quiet indoor environment that you enjoy.

But what is the basic difference between a split Air Conditioner (A.C) and a central air conditioner?

Mainly suitable for offices and large commercial operations, central air-conditioners use a system of supply and return ducts and a set of registers to circulate cool air.

You may often see openings or grills fitted in the walls, floors, or ceilings in case the place has a Central A.C installed.

Well these openings or return ducts along with supply ducts carry cooled air from the AC and circulate it in your entire home, which becomes warmer on circulation. The return ducts and registers then carry this warm air back to the Central Air Conditioner unit comprising of the evaporator, condenser, and compressor.

All these parts of the Central AC are packed into one unit and are kept on a slab made of concrete on the roof of your building.

The Split Air conditioners, also known as mini-split units, though based on the same model as a Central Air conditioner comprises of 2 units, one that sits inside the building, known as air handler and the other that is placed outside.

The air handler comprises of an evaporator and a blower, while the outside unit consists of a condenser and a compressor. This AC is quiet efficient, provides continuous cool air, and doesn’t make much noise primarily because its compressor is located outside your home.

And what’s more these mini split units are ductless and therefore help in energy conservation too. They avoid energy losses generally associated with the ducts of Central AC systems. These mini-splits are mostly suitable with closed building s having no windows or openings.

They also perfectly suit the requirements of the buildings with no central air-conditioning and are best fit for people who don’t want to listen to the noise of Window ACs. It is based on the same phenomenon as the normal refrigeration unit found in the refrigerators we use in our homes.

Sanyo’s mini split air conditioners and Ductless air conditioners are best suited to cool and heat for buildings with no place to fit air ducts and also those old-style homes and buildings fitted with radiators or baseboard heaters.

What’s more these ACs are much small in size when compared to their other counterparts and since they are not fitted with ducts they provide flexible zooming facility too. What’s more these Sanyo ductless air conditioners are perfect solutions for sunrooms, newly added rooms in your buildings, computer data entry rooms, small and Home offices and offices made in garages.

The Sanyo ductless air conditioner provides you with different heating and cooling modes such as High Power mode where the unit performs at its maximum capacity, energy-saving mode, where the Air Conditioning unit adjusts energy according to the room temperature, and the Automatic Sensor mode, where the unit automatically adjusts cooling and heating modes ensuring efficient and economical cooling and heating operation.

What’s more, the products in this series of Air Conditioners are equipped with tiny rotary compressors that reduce vibration significantly and ensure a quiet operation leading to a noiseless environment.

All Sanyo’s mini split air conditioners are integrated with inverter technology and meet the DOE of 13 SEER which is the minimum requirement in this category. What’s more these ACs come fitted with Air Clean Apatite Filters leading made up of Apatite or Calcium Phosphate, a chemical that is very effective in trapping germs, mites, dirt, and dust. What’s more these products can reduce or totally eliminate the cigarette odor too.

Therefore, we can say that investing in Sanyo’s mini split air conditioners and Sanyo Ductless air conditioners is the best and most economical choice that one can make. And, by doing a little research about the products you can get the best price deals too.
