Notably among them are Sanyo, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Baxi, Amcor and Freidrich. All the companies manufacture units with different cooling capacities and the range spans from 8500 to over 24000 BTU

Your buying decisions should be based on three aspects the BTU, the voltage and the window size.

The BTU

The BTU (British Thermal Unit) is the standard unit used to measure. The cooling capacity of an air conditioner depends on its tonnage. A one ton unit will usually have a cooling capacity of 12000 BTU while a 2 ton unit will have a capacity of 2400 BTU.

However, this is the cooling capacity that the unit can provide. Your choice should depend on the cooling needs of your house or the room where you intend to install the air conditioner. This requirement may increase based on the amount of sunlight received in the room, the presence of other electrical appliances specifically ones with heating elements, the number of people and of course the size of the room.

Electrical consumption

Another consideration should be the electrical consumption of the unit. If you use an air conditioner of lesser tonnage for a larger room it will consume more electricity. Also, many air conditioners available from new manufacturers have high electrical consumptions.

The exact amount of electricity required by a unit is usually mentioned in the manufacturer literature provided with it. Alternatively you can also check for the star ratings. The energy star rating is a government approved program that gives a seal of approval to products which display high levels of energy efficiency.

The Star logo is reserved for products that meet the stringent energy efficiency requirements set by the US department of energy and the EPA. The logo is given to products that do not compromise on performance and features yet maintain extraordinary standards or energy efficiency.

Noise

The next constraint should be the amount of noise made by the product. Even though it is normal for all air conditioners to make some amount of noise, the split air conditioners are by far the most silent as compared to all other types. The less noise can be attributed to the fact that the compressor is placed outside the house.

Unless you intend to change the shape and size of the window in your house you will also need to check the manufacturer specifications related to the size of the unit and the fitting requirements.

Compressors

The reliability of an air conditioner depends on the strength of its compressor. A good company will back their products 100%. So always look for a compressor with a minimum warranty of at least 5 years. The compressors used in air conditioners are by far the most sturdy electrical devices and are designed to function unhindered for 10 plus years. However it is possible that a malfunction in the other systems may cause a compressor failure or a leakage in the refrigerant used. The manufacturer should be willing to cover all of these possible malfunctions.

The price of split air conditioners for a minimum capacity unit which is a single zone machine that is the unit is placed only in one room and has a cooling capacity of 9000 BTU ranges between $1000 to $2000. While a larger single zone unit with a cooling capacity of 24000 BTU will cost between $2000 to $3500.

It is imperative that before you choose a unit you read the manufacturer literature carefully. A lot of manufacturers will add features such as free installation to their units. So check out the most popular and fast selling units in the market before buying one.

Mini split heat pump heaters are the ideal solution for homes where ducting is not possible. You may not be able to install ducting due to the high cost or it may not be feasible to do so due to architectural constraints.

They also make good add ons to houses which already have a ductless heating system in place such as radiant panels, hydronic systems, space heaters powered by wood, propane or kerosene.

A mini split heat pump kit is just like any other air source heat pump. It has an out door compressor and an indoor unit that is responsible for air handling. The outside and inside units are linked through a conduit.

This section houses the assembly of the system like the power cable, the suction tubing, the condensate drain and the refrigerant tubing

Ductless mini heat pumps offer the advantages of room air conditioners and a central air conditioning system rolled into one unit. Ductless mini heat pumps use air handler which are mounted through out the house. The refrigerant is supplied to the individual coils in these air handlers instead of the single unit of refrigerant coil and air handler in traditional central duct work air conditioners.

One of the primary advantages is the fact that the refrigerant lines need less space as compared to traditional ducting and they are considerably easier to install.

There are many newer models available in the market that provide both heating and cooling however mini split heat pumps are predominantly used for cooling. The single indoor unit comprising of a refrigerant coil and air handler along with a single out door unit comprising of a compressor and condenser are adequate to cool an entire house.

The working of the unit is fairly simple air cooled through the evaporator coil is distributed through out the house through the duct-work. Even if there are multiple indoor units there will usually only be one outdoor unit. The refrigerant is passed to the individual indoor units through insulated refrigerant lines. Each indoor unit also has a fan which is used to blow the cooled air into the room.

The biggest advantage of installing mini split heat pumps is energy efficiency. Particularly if the area is well insulated as many as 4 indoor units can be served by one outdoor unit. Each zone served by a single indoor unit has its own thermostat so you can only use air conditioning in that zone when somebody is present or it can be switched off. This helps to conserve energy and save money.

Some of the popular companies that manufacture mini split heat pumps are Fujitsu and Sanyo. The cooling capacity starts at 12000 BTU. However the cost of these units is pretty steep at $1500 to $2000

While choosing a mini split heat pump you need to consider many factor one of them being the BTU. Since the cost of these units is very steep at 30% more than a conventional window air conditioner, budget is usually the primary constraint.

Also, you need to check if the indoor units suit the decor of your house since they don’t have the look of a central system. You will need to make sure that there is place to drain the condensate water from the outside unit.

Apart from the cost of the machinery you will need to pay for installation charges and it may not be easy to find qualified technicians to help you out.

Despite some disadvantages, mini split heat pumps are one of the best cooling solutions available in the market with high energy efficiency and greater flexibility

Looking for an air conditioner to cool your home properly?

Well Sanyo’s split and ductless air-conditioners solve this requirement perfectly by providing you with a cool and quiet indoor environment that you enjoy.

But what is the basic difference between a split Air Conditioner (A.C) and a central air conditioner?

Mainly suitable for offices and large commercial operations, central air-conditioners use a system of supply and return ducts and a set of registers to circulate cool air.

You may often see openings or grills fitted in the walls, floors, or ceilings in case the place has a Central A.C installed.

Well these openings or return ducts along with supply ducts carry cooled air from the AC and circulate it in your entire home, which becomes warmer on circulation. The return ducts and registers then carry this warm air back to the Central Air Conditioner unit comprising of the evaporator, condenser, and compressor.

All these parts of the Central AC are packed into one unit and are kept on a slab made of concrete on the roof of your building.

The Split Air conditioners, also known as mini-split units, though based on the same model as a Central Air conditioner comprises of 2 units, one that sits inside the building, known as air handler and the other that is placed outside.

The air handler comprises of an evaporator and a blower, while the outside unit consists of a condenser and a compressor. This AC is quiet efficient, provides continuous cool air, and doesn’t make much noise primarily because its compressor is located outside your home.

And what’s more these mini split units are ductless and therefore help in energy conservation too. They avoid energy losses generally associated with the ducts of Central AC systems. These mini-splits are mostly suitable with closed building s having no windows or openings.

They also perfectly suit the requirements of the buildings with no central air-conditioning and are best fit for people who don’t want to listen to the noise of Window ACs. It is based on the same phenomenon as the normal refrigeration unit found in the refrigerators we use in our homes.

Sanyo’s mini split air conditioners and Ductless air conditioners are best suited to cool and heat for buildings with no place to fit air ducts and also those old-style homes and buildings fitted with radiators or baseboard heaters.

What’s more these ACs are much small in size when compared to their other counterparts and since they are not fitted with ducts they provide flexible zooming facility too. What’s more these Sanyo ductless air conditioners are perfect solutions for sunrooms, newly added rooms in your buildings, computer data entry rooms, small and Home offices and offices made in garages.

The Sanyo ductless air conditioner provides you with different heating and cooling modes such as High Power mode where the unit performs at its maximum capacity, energy-saving mode, where the Air Conditioning unit adjusts energy according to the room temperature, and the Automatic Sensor mode, where the unit automatically adjusts cooling and heating modes ensuring efficient and economical cooling and heating operation.

What’s more, the products in this series of Air Conditioners are equipped with tiny rotary compressors that reduce vibration significantly and ensure a quiet operation leading to a noiseless environment.

All Sanyo’s mini split air conditioners are integrated with inverter technology and meet the DOE of 13 SEER which is the minimum requirement in this category. What’s more these ACs come fitted with Air Clean Apatite Filters leading made up of Apatite or Calcium Phosphate, a chemical that is very effective in trapping germs, mites, dirt, and dust. What’s more these products can reduce or totally eliminate the cigarette odor too.

Therefore, we can say that investing in Sanyo’s mini split air conditioners and Sanyo Ductless air conditioners is the best and most economical choice that one can make. And, by doing a little research about the products you can get the best price deals too.
