I was so upset when I got home Tuesday and discovered that my furnace had stopped working.
My poor cat was home all day without heat.
After much searching, I found her curled up in my bed, under the sheets. She never does this. She must have been trying to stay warm. My house was freezing cold so I called out a furnace repair company immediately. They were able to send someone out that same night. Thankfully, the furnace repair was a quick fix. When I asked how I can prevent my cat from freezing all day again the repairman recommend two things. One, was that I have my furnace serviced at least once a year in the Fall. The other, was that I get a smart thermostat. A smart thermostat connects to my phone so I can always see what temperature my house is. I can even set an alarm for an alert if my house drops below a certain degree. I asked if this could be installed right now and the technician said he could. Usually, he wouldn’t on an emergency call but it was a slow night so he would go ahead and install it. It did not take long for him to get the smart thermostat hooked up. It cost less than I would have expected too. When I went to work on Wednesday I was happy that I could see my home temperature from the office. I know my kitty is staying nice a warm all day while I work now. I think I will get that preventative furnace service next Fall too. I will be using the same company
