Earthquake shuts of gas boiler

This is our first winter time on the west coast & I did not expect it to be so cold.

I thought the west coast was sizzling & sunny year round.

This house had a appealing gas boiler though & it keeps us nice & warm. Or, at least, it did until the earthquake hit. This was also our first earthquake & it was rather frightening. My pal and I ran outside. Afterwards, our neighbors told us my pal and I should never run outside & it is better to shelter under a table or in a doorway, later that day my pal and I discovered that our sizzling water was not hot, our gas boiler didn’t work, & the stove was busted too. My pal and I assumed that the gas had been shut off for the whole neighborhood because of the earthquake. My pal and I were actually suffering without a boiler or sizzling water however could make do without the stove for a few afternoons. My spouse & I went out & got a few little space boilers to make the house comfortable however my pal and I would constantly turn them off if no one was home because my pal and I distraught what would happen if there was another earthquake & items fell on the heater. After a few afternoons of this, my pal and I discovered, from our neighbors, that each house has its own gas shut off after an earthquake & that they turned theirs back on themselves. They then showed us how. It was actually straight-forward & my pal and I felt kind of crazy for going without heat & other amenities so long when my pal and I could have just simply turned the gas back on
