Earthquake causes air conditioning failure

We were fortunate. The recent earthquake did not do much harm to our house. In fact, we thought a few picture frames were the only casualties. That is until we noticed that our a/c was not toiling right… Half of the home did not seem to be getting cooling air at all. My boyfriend made a quick call to the a/c repair business and they were not able to come out for two days. It seems a lot of people were having problems. When they did arrive the worker took a look at our compressor and other toilings and then he went into the attic. I could hear him messing around up there for numerous minutes and then came down and told us it was all fixed. He said that a box we had stored in the attic had fallen on our air duct, disaffixing it. That was all! He had reaffixed the air duct and taped it a little bit. He said we were luck and that he had worked on a home the day before where they air duct had moved because the home was no longer level. They were going to have to spend thousands to try to relevel their home. When I expressed problem that this might be our case he informed me that he had evaluated and our attic was still level. He reassured me that it was just a box that had caused the harm. My fine friend and I were very grateful that we had gotten away so easily, however from now on, we will be careful how we stack our storage boxes in the attic as well.
