I didn’t think about the heating requirements

It wasn’t until after we purchased this home that we realized that it doesn’t have any central heat source.

None at all.

It has a central air conditioner. When we were looking at home, back in July, that was important. To be honest, this area doesn’t get super cold but it does snow from time to time. The snow doesn’t stick but still, it would be nice to be warm in the winter months. So as fall approaches we started looking into heat sources. Since we already have the duct work it would not be that expensive to get a central furnace installed. However, the one thing I have always hated about central heaters is that you have to heat all the rooms in your house to the same temperature. I like to keep my bedroom cold while warming the living room and kitchen. Zone control could do that but that seems like a lot of steps. Finally, we decided to get baseboard heaters installed in every room of the house. Baseboard heaters are like space heaters except that they can’t fall over and they are relatively safe. More importantly, baseboard heaters can each be set individually or hooked up together. So we are going to get the kitchen and living room heaters all hooked up to one thermostat. Then leave each bedroom heater with it’s own thermostat. I think that will be perfect for our family. The price is not too bad either. Now we will all be nice and warm when winter comes. Of course, we are still leaving the central air conditioner for the summer months. No need to change what works well.
