HVAC work allowed me to retire early

I spend my summers on the beach, and then I drive south and spend my winters on other beaches! This nomadic lifestyle was not one I had even planned, but life has a funny way of working out sometimes.

  • For many years I was a normal dude, working a normal job monday through friday, and living for my weekend beach trips.

When I had some money put aside, I realized I could make every day a weekend if I planned right. One of the great things about being HVAC certified is that I can pick up contract jobs almost anywhere I go. Once I had my house paid off, I retired at the age of 42, and after that would only pick up HVAC jobs when the time was right. It wasn’t always about money, either, with my skills I can tune up the HVAC systems for my friends, or replace old components for my family. Usually, though, I keep the heating and cooling contract work to a minimum, so I can focus on what I love in life. My dog Banjo and I have several different beaches we like to visit, and will stay there for up to a week at a time. One of these days I will give up the HVAC work entirely, sell the house, and spend my golden years living on the beach. If you have the ability to get into the field of HVAC work, I can’t recommend it highly enough as a way to take financial control of your life, and maybe even retire early.
