I knew that moving here was going to be better than dealing with all that snow and ice back home.
But I really had no system in mind for what I was in for when it came to this sort of winter.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been outside this much during the winter in our life. In fact, I’m sure of it. I grew up and lived all of our adult life where the winter came with brutally cold uneven temperatures. So there was a lot of time spent inside with the gas heating system just cranking out the heating my friend and I needed to be comfortable. My closest associate and I moved down here in October and the first thing I did when my friend and I came inside our modern location was turn on the a/c. That’s also really something that I’ve never done. Back home, this October meant that the air was already getting cold in a precursor of a winter to come. But down here, my friend and I still needed some real cooling comfort from time to time. Yet it’s the winter and the heat pump that I’ve been so impressed by. For sure, the heating demand has been quite limited. But when there has been a cold snap, the heat pump deals with it. I wasn’t so sure if a heat pump could deliver on heating demands. In our mind, heat pumps have always been more about cooling than actual heating. I’ve also been really impressed when we’ve needed some heating this winter. And it sounds as if I’ll be getting a whole lot more of the heat pump and a/c as my friend and I roll into rising into uneven temperatures.
