My friend & I were on our way home from a concert & the motor car broke down on the side of the road.
We walked several miles to the nearest city so both of us could call someone for help, however unluckily, no one could come to help us until the next day.
We looked for a place to stay overnight, there was a rundown & old hotel two blocks from the payphone, so my neighbor & I started walking. The hotel was cheaply priced, & both of us were ecstatic about that because both of us didn’t have much currency in our pocket. Unluckily, the hotel was also booked up for the night. The vacancy sign was flashing, although he assured me that every room was filled for the night! He gave us a single night in a room without any AC. He said he could not rent the room for full price because the A/C wasn’t genuinely working. If both of us wanted to sleep in that room, he would rent it to us for $20. Neither of us wanted to sleep in the motorcar & both of us would have been forced to walk several miles back to the car. Luke & I didn’t care if the room had A/C or not, especially after both of us spent the last more than two hours walking in the dark. We took the room and both of us slept quite well that night, despite the lack of cool air in the room. We genuinely wouldn’t have slept that well in the car. We were thankful the guy gave us the room without A/C for only $20. The nightly rate would have been $59.00 plus taxes.
