My heat pump proposal just died and our wife is on me to get a modern 1, however just because the cabin came with a heat pump doesn’t mean I have to buy another 1.
I certainly wasn’t a fan of using a heat pump system.
It moves existing heat energy rather than creates it, however doing this means it is undoubtedly energy efficient. However, if you live in a chilly area where the rapidly adjusting temperatures drop below 40 degrees, the heat pump is not entirely effective. Around 1 month out of the year our heat pump is virtually worthless. I would need to use space gas furnaces to provide supplemental heating. My wife might not have cared how awful the cabin looked, but I did. I am thinking I want a more heavy duty heating system. I could get high velocity A/C to be used most of the year and then get a fireplace for the living room. I have been looking online and there are some attractive fireplaces out there. I found 1 that has a faux wood burning fire with a glass front plate. There is also a little ledge you can rest on and a top mantle to put things on. It looks undoubtedly elaborate, classy and almost rustic. I know adding that to the living room will entirely make the room pop, however getting the gas fireplace installed doesn’t seem to be a complicated process either. I know the Heating and A/C worker could do the oil furnace replacement in 1 day without a hitch. I am willing to spend our money a little more not to freeze this winter.
