A furnace checkup is just as important as taking your vehicle to a mechanic for regular service for an oil change.
A full service tune up on the furnace includes a number of steps.
The service technician should inspect all of the system components, gauges, and levels. My wife and I have been paying for a full service tune up on the furnace for the past 10 or 15 years. We have been using the same company for most of the time and both of us have witnessed a full service tune up being performed on our furnace. When we scheduled a furnace service appointment, we received a very different service from the new technician. That guy was only in our house for a few minutes before he went back outside to his work truck. He talked on the phone for 10 or 15 minutes and then he came back inside to work on the furnace. He was only on the property for 30 minutes when he declared that he was finished, and half of that time he was sitting in the truck on the phone. My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief, because we knew it should take around an hour for the appointment. I started asking the technician if he completed this step and that step, and he rolled his eyes and told me that everything looked fine. I thought something seemed strange, but I paid the guy and he left. I decided to call the company to talk with the manager about the strange service we received. The guy apologized and offered to send another technician since we were dissatisfied.
