I couldn’t for the life of myself and others figure out why my home office feels hotter than any other locale in my house. At first I thought that maybe my exterior wall is getting hit by excessive afternoon sunlight, but a quick visual inspection outside determined that not to be the case. In fact, I certainly get shade from a neighbor’s trees on this portion of my apartment while I was in the hottest times of the afternoon, so that couldn’t be the reason. Even though I have been residing in this rental for a few months now, the Summer weather is starting to show the weaknesses in the indoor air circulation from a single room to the next. We live in a southern weather conditions so both of us need a/c on demand whenever the apartment starts to believe uncomfortably boiling while I was in all times of the afternoon. It gets so boiling that both of us run our cooling system at a low temperature while both of us sleep at night. No matter how low both of us turn the thermostat, the home office feels warmer than somewhere else in the house. I decided to call the landlord, but she refused to do anything about the air circulation. As long as the cooling system technically works, he’s not going to do a thing about it. That’s when I called my heating & cooling contractor that I’ve been using for the past 20 years. She told myself and others over the iphone that I most likely needed a damper for the ductwork. Sometimes the ductwork doesn’t evenly distribute the air leaving the cooling system throughout the whole home, leaving some areas more affected than others. Thankfully, she could install the damper & remove it whenever I decide to transfer so it’s not a permanent modification that would make my landlord annoyed.
