If you ask me, then working on the top floor of the building isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
I used to think that I would really like working up on the top floor of our office building, since that’s where all of the powerful people’s offices seem to be located.
When I got a promotion and moved up to the top floor, I was so proud of myself. I started to think that maybe I was really going to start moving up in the world back then. Now, however, all I really want to do is move back downstairs to another floor that isn’t the top floor! I really hate working on the top floor and it isn’t because of the job or the people on my team, either. Nope, the only reason that I hate it on the top floor is because of the HVAC system in the building. The furnace seems to run up there all the time. I don’t know if it’s because heat rises or what, but the temperature up there on the top floor feels like you’re actually waking into a furnace whenever you step off the elevator. It’s really awful and I just hate it up there. I don’t know what I’m going to do about it, though. I don’t really want to give up my promotion, that’s for sure. I am really enjoying the bump up in salary that I’ve gotten on my last few paychecks. However, I’m not sure if the raise in salary is actually worth having to work up there where the temperature is so hot all the time. And honestly, if it’s this bad in the winter, I hate to even think about how hot it will be up there during the summer.
